TABLE-Speculators' long US dollar bets surge in latest week-CFTC Mar 1st 2013, 20:45 NEW YORK, March 1 | Fri Mar 1, 2013 3:45pm EST NEW YORK, March 1 (Reuters) - Currency speculators increased their bets in favor of the U.S. dollar in the latest week, according to data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission released on Friday. The value of the dollar's net long position rose to $14.39 billion in the week ended Feb. 26, from $1.481 billion the previous week. It was the largest net long position on a dollar basis since July 24, 2012, according to Reuters calculations. The dollar was long against every currency used in the Reuters calculation except the Australian dollar. To be short a currency is to bet it will decline in value, while being long is a view its value will rise. The Reuters calculation for the aggregate U.S. dollar position is derived from net positions of International Monetary Market speculators in the yen, euro, British pound, Swiss franc, Canadian and Australian dollars.
