Dollar extends gains vs yen, hits session high Oct 31st 2012, 13:24 NEW YORK | Wed Oct 31, 2012 9:24am EDT NEW YORK Oct 31 (Reuters) - The dollar extended gains versus the yen to hit a session high in early New York trade on Wednesday as higher stock prices dented the safe-haven appeal of the Japanese currency. The dollar rose as high as 79.89 yen on Reuters data and was last at 79.87, up 0.3 percent on the day.
