RIO DE JANEIRO, July 3 (Reuters) - The Brazilian real weakened 1 percent on Tuesday, returning to level of 2 reais per U.S. dollar after a central bank director said that, if needed, policymakers could resume dollar purchases on the spot market to mop up excess liquidity.
The real last traded at 2.0094 per dollar, 1.1 percent weaker than Monday's close.
